House Rules

  • Literacy requires 1 dot of Academics.
  • Each dot of Academics confers reasonable fluency in one language.
  • Iron Stomach is a 1 dot Merit.
  1. If you say it, your character said it (unless you’re describing your actions or roll, obviously…).
    • If you need to address meta game issues out-of-character, you may signal a pause by crossing your fingers and holding them up while speaking.
    • Demerits will be handed out for anachronism or otherwise breaking the mood.
  2. If you aren’t in a scene, shut up. You don’t have any magical communication devices. Keep your comments to yourself.
    • As above, you may signal a BRIEF out-of-character discussion, if something needs to be clarified, but not to exchange ideas/information.
    • If you are in a scene and you don’t know what to do/say, that sucks. Guess you’d better think fast or get out of there.
    • Demerits for stuff!
  3. Tell me what you want to do (not what you’d like to roll) and I’ll tell you the dice pool and any bonuses or penalties.
    • If you don’t agree. I may listen to your argument or I may increase the penalty arbitrarily.
  4. Have your action ready to go in combat, or your character hesitated and you have extra time to think about what you’d like to do on your next action.
    • You’re welcome to roll your dice before I call on you in combat. Though, I reserve the right to force you to reroll if I feel like adding penalties to your roll.
  5. At the beginning of the session, you get two Beats.
    • During the session, I may throw you more Beats for good ideas, good roleplaying, Aspirations (you told me your Aspirations, didn’t you?), etc.
    • Demerits are NEGATIVE Beats. You receive them as a penalty, at my discretion.
    • At the end of the session, you might get an extra Beat or two for completing objectives. You total up your Beats, mark them on your sheet, and every 5 Beats is an XP.
  6. I’m not a reasonable GM; I’m mean and I hate fun. Get over it.
